World War III — The "War on Covid-19" (or Humanity?) — Part I
An exploration of the use of "War" for controlling humanity, funnelling money to the Oligarchs and billionaires, and for the consolidation of "power". Originally published Mar 21, 2022.

Part I
Introduction
I’ve been meaning to write this article since June of 2020, when it became starkly apparent to me the collective world psyche was, yet again, being intentionally and quite literally coerced into another “world war”. A world war of perhaps greater proportions and significance than the two previous “world wars”.
My definition of a “world war” is that it directly impacts the majority of human beings on a global scale, either in terms of their involvement in the “fight” against the perceived “enemy”, or in terms of the impact of the “enemy” on their lives, or the impact on their lives of the fight itself against the “enemy”—or any combination of these.1
I propose the war on Covid-19—what I am loosely calling World War III—may be unprecedented in the degree to which the vast majority of humanity is being impacted by all three of the above-mentioned elements of war.
Disclaimer: My Point of View
The assertions I make in this article are based on my own understanding of history and society and based on a wide range of perspectives and narratives I’ve looked into regarding war, specifically the underlying human volition and motivation behind it. Where I’ve provided footnote references, this is primarily for your own extended reading and research. Whilst many of the footnotes help assert a point I’ve made, that’s often not their primary purpose. Please consider this article an opinion piece, informed by 30 years of deeply looking into the macro-geopolitical and macro-economic forces playing out in the world around me. If you want objective validation of my assertions, I suggest looking more deeply and broadly into the subjects raised, and coming to your own conclusions.
The provided footnote references may be helpful in your research.
I’ve also provided links to numerous books. Please note that my referring to a book is no indication that I agree with all that the book’s author asserts. It simply means it’s a book I think will be helpful for a discerning reader to delve deeper into the subject matter of this article.
World War III, the 1st World War of the 21st century
I propose the “Covid-19 pandemic” is equivalent to humanity being engaged in World War Three. The Covid-19 pandemic is not being presented in exactly those terms, yet it might as well be.
Some people (e.g., “The Third World War — by Lawrence Freedman”) argue another “world war”—specifically, the Third World War—played out in response to the events of September 11, 2001, via the so-called “War on Terror(ism)”2. Yet it seems to me this war didn’t impact the world, and humanity at large, in quite the same way a true “World War” affects us. The "War on Terror" was in essence a US geopolitical agenda, arising from Washington DC, in which participation, however unwilling, was imposed upon all other nations—whether traditionally US allies or not (e.g., “Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.” - George W. Bush, former US President).
So, for me, the “War on Terror(ism)” doesn’t exactly count as a “world war” in the way I would define it.3 I do agree there was undoubtably an attempt for it to have similar effects to a world war—such as using it to implement what would otherwise be completely unacceptable domestic and foreign policy; to channel money through the industrial-military complex (for corporate profit); to invoke fear in the general population; to justify heinous geo-political crimes; and, likely, to fulfill a long list of other agendas4 5.
The War on SARS-CoV-2 is different.
The Hidden Motivation for War
I think it’s reasonable to say the major driving factor to most, if not all, war is the transfer, protection, and consolidation of money and power. This is not necessarily the money and power interests of the overtly warring nations and their respective governments. Often it is the power and money interests of a relatively few private individuals (and their corporate extensions). These would be those who make a point of investing heavily into the economics of war, typically using their political influence to push or encourage nations into war.
Superficially (i.e., publicly), war is presented to the collective psyche as “defending ourselves from an enemy”—be that an “enemy of the state”, an “enemy of democracy”, or an “enemy of public health”. Yet in most major wars this is rarely, if ever, the true motivation. The so-called enemy is typically exaggerated, escalated, and at times, completely fabricated. The purpose is to justify a battle against this new “enemy”, and/or to justify pushing through political decisions intended to shift a balance of power and wealth within society.
One relatively recent example of war being used to justify an increase in political powers is the “war on terrorism” subsequent to the crimes committed in the US on September 11, 2001. The 300+ page USA Patriot Act (passed 45 days after September 11) granted the US government a long list of controversial powers, many of which were used against its own citizens in ways that had nothing to do with “fighting terrorism”. See the following footnotes for further exploration into this example:
Georgetown University—Factsheet: The Patriot Act
The Heritage Foundation — After the 9/11 Act: Homeland Security Grants Still Moving in the Wrong Direction
The History Channel — The Patriot Act
— and, with more of a global perspective:
Human Rights Watch — In the Name of Security: Counterterrorism Laws Worldwide since September 11
“Just 45 days after the attacks of September 11, 2001, a panicked Congress passed, with virtually no debate, the USA Patriot Act. The law amounted to an overnight revision of the nation’s surveillance laws that vastly expanded the government’s authority to spy on its own citizens, while simultaneously reducing checks and balances on those powers.” [ref]ACLU — End Mass Surveillance Under The Patriot Act[/ref]
When was is declared, what’s most important to the “side” declaring the war is not necessarily the “taking out of an enemy”. Rather it’s the ulterior agendas the pretence of war can be used to accomplish. Taking out the so-called “enemy” is typically a means to one or more other ends. The proposed enemy is ultimately an excuse, sometimes even a scapegoat, for serving hidden agendas, such as amassing, redirecting, reclaiming, or maintaining wealth and power.
At least in the US (although likely elsewhere), because private business interests have such an extraordinary level of influence over the government (to the extent that government-corporate corruption is normalised6, and therefore ignored), typically the shift of wealth and power achieved through US-driven wars is towards the private ownership and interests of a relatively small collective of private individuals and their corporations. Again, the desired result is always an intentional and carefully managed redistribution and consolidation of wealth and power (geopolitical, corporate, resources, etc.). Simply put, the true motivations behind wars are rarely, if ever, televised—it’s rarely something you’ll read about in the mainstream news.
A prime example of the covert motivations behind war is WWII, and US and British relations with Nazi Germany. You can read an excerpt from Noam Chomsky’s book Secrets, Lies, and Democracy (1994) highlighting some of the hidden agendas of WWII on his website here. It’s also well worth reading Conjuring Hitler: How Britain and America made the Third Reich (Guido Giacomo Preparata, 2005).
Many books have been written on the topic of what really motivates most major wars, so I will end my admittedly very cursory overview of this subject here. The point to take from this is that war—be that the “War on drugs”, the “War on Cancer”, the “War on Afghanistan”, or the “War on Nazi Germany”—is rarely, if ever, fought for the reasons openly conveyed to the general public. As we proceed, please keep this point in mind. If that’s an idea that feel foreign to you, I encourage you to investigate it.
If you wish to explore this further, here are a few other relevant books: America’s Secret War: Inside the Hidden Worldwide Struggle Between America and Its Enemies (George Friedman, 2005); Hidden History: The Secret Origins of the First World War (Gerry Docherty, 2014); and, not specific to the orchestration of wars, yet encompassing that, Conspirators’ Hierarchy: The Story of the Committee of 300 (John Coleman, 2016), also The True Story of the Bilderberg Group (Daniel Estulin, 2009)
Propaganda: Manipulation of the public to support war
Because wars are rarely pursued for reasons the public is likely to support, it’s only natural the public is lied to in order to gain their support. This is otherwise known as “propaganda”, or more recently as “public relations”78[/ref].
This too is a topic entire books have been written on. I don’t wish to restate what’s already been stated far more thoroughly than is appropriate here. If this topic is new to you, please look into it.9
The main point to consider is that manipulation of public opinion is a mainstay of modern society, and a foundation stone of so-called “democracy”10. It’s done through advertising and marketing. It’s done through public relations. It done through the manipulation of online search results11. It’s done through manipulation of what you see on your “feed” on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms121314. It’s also routinely done through the mainstream media1516[/ref]. As we proceed, keep these points in mind.
A virus—the new global enemy?
Whatever you might believe as to the true origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, such as did it arise in nature or did it leak from a lab17, or even whether you believe the virus doesn’t exist at all (a view some people assert)18, whilst it makes for interesting consideration, it’s somewhat beside the point. Whatever its source, and whether people believe it has tangible existence or not, what matters most is how we relate to it. What’s important is how the virus—more importantly our ideas and narrative about the virus—has morphed it into an invisible, faceless, all-pervading global enemy of epic (or “epidemic”) proportions.
If you’re familiar with George Orwell’s book 1984, you may already be sensing the set-up we’re facing. A core tenet of Orwell’s totalitarian society of human submission and control (by “Big Brother”) is the principle of maintaining the constant perception that our society is up against an enemy, and is therefore at war. In 1984 this strategy reaches its height by virtue of the enemy being all pervasive and anonymous; the enemy could be anywhere, attacking at any time.
The more nebulous and pervasive the “public enemy”, the better for those in control. Aside from the psychological impacts of society constantly being under threat by an enemy, what’s also important is that the fight against the enemy justifies a constant redistribution and consolidation of power, wealth, and resources into the hands of a few. It also justifies draconian measures society would otherwise reject, and it provokes the collective fear-driven psychosis necessary for people en masse to accept (and even demand) such measures.
A war against a virus, or against humanity?
In early 2019, the mainstream media made it clear we are at war with a virus. Statements from numerous global leaders suggested we are at war or engaged in a battle. It’s been portrayed as or likened to war by UN Secretary-General António Guterres1920; by President of Germany Angela Merkel21; and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of Portugal, “This war—because it is a real war—has been going on for a month, it started after European neighbours, and for this reason, it could take longer to reach the peak of its expression”. An article in the American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation shares this sentiment with its title, “The War on COVID-19 Pandemic”22. Rather than elaborating on this here, I refer you to numerous articles addressing the war focused narrative surrounding Covid-19 (see the following footnotes23242526).
Here’s the issue: SARS-CoV-2 (SC2) is nothing without a carrier. There’s no such thing as a threatening virus without a vector. In this instance, every human being is a potential vector. We’re told it could be the person next to you in the supermarket, your family members, or someone you walk past in the street. SC2 doesn’t function independently from people. So is the “enemy” the virus, or is it human beings? As you can see, we have a very fine line (if there’s a line at all) between waging war against a virus or waging war against the one and only thing that potentially makes that virus a concern—all human beings we come into proximity of.
Whether intentional or not, it could be argued that in the war against SC2, humanity is being targeted as much as the virus itself. People are being forced to wear masks, despite their usefulness being highly questionable272829303132. That’s not to say there aren’t studies suggesting masks might be helpful33. People are being forced into lock-downs; travel is being restricted; gatherings are being forbidden (funerals, weddings, etc.); social distancing is being enforced. Businesses are being closed. As was predicted by many divergent commentators (myself included) at the start of this pandemic, most of humanity is now being coerced into being injected with experimental immunological gene therapy (aka., mRNA vaccines), and all the subsequent boosters, without their fully informed consent and freedom to choose. The threat of a global implementation of “vaccine passports” is one method being used to enable this coercion.
As stated above, there’s a very thin line between whether this is a war against a virus or against the only thing that makes the virus a potential threat—humanity.
If the threat is so dangerous … Why only one countermeasure?
I won’t be the first person to question why, if Covid-19 poses such a serious threat to humanity, does the mainstream narrative only embrace one type of countermeasure? The primary countermeasure in “our arsenal” is a vaccine. All the above-mentioned restrictions and mandates are also countermeasures, but let’s face it … they were only meant to be temporary measures to see us all through to when we can all be vaccinated (what was presented to the public as “flattening the curve” to “buying us some time”). Actually, it wasn’t even that we all would need to be vaccinated. Originally it was suggested around 60% of people needed immunity (naturally, or via vaccination). Many countries are now aiming for vaccination levels of 90% or more. What’s more, the primary vaccines are proving to be highly ineffective beyond 7 months post-vaccination3435. Rather than questioning the rationale of depending so heavily on poorly tested, experimental mRNA technology, their poor efficacy is being used as justification for mandating booster shots36.
I’ve viewed hundreds of mainstream media articles, news reports, and government announcements pertaining to Covid-19. It is safe to say I’ve not once seen it mentioned that people, on an individual level, can do anything to actually improve their health and immunity, and decrease their chances of being susceptible to SC2 or of falling seriously ill should they get infected. The silence has been eerie. It’s darn right peculiar and irrational. It’s the huge elephant in the living room, right smack in front of the TV, that everyone avoids mentioning whilst they watch the latest government Covid-19 news update.
This situation brings to mind the common scene in war-themed movies. The president is deliberating on what to do about the situation at hand. The military generals are hovering around, in gruff voices trying to convince the president the only solution is to launch a large-scale military attack, or to fire off a nuke. The military general doesn’t even hint there might be other options, and tears down anyone who does. The general has only a hammer in his tool box, and he sees every potential threat as a nail to be whacked. Here in World War III—the war against Covid-19—the only approach we’re told that works is a militaristic one. Namely, we must inject a medical Trojan horse into our body, and stimulate a false-flag event, in order to get our internal soldiers aroused and ready for a direct attack from the enemy.
What if this entire way of thinking is mistaken? What if human beings have survived the past hundreds of millions of years because the exceedingly complex innate immune system is highly effective at maintaining viral and bacterial equilibrium within the human body? What if our collective susceptibility to, and experience of, this particular virus at this particular time, is nothing more than an indication from Mother nature that our way of life, and our fundamental relationships (with each other, the Earth, and the living system we are a part of) are out of balance?
The Hopi language has a word for such a state—Koyaanisqatsi, life out of balance.
Follow the money—The Wealth Transfer
In a relatively short period, the war on Covid-19 resulted in a significant transfer of wealth. As of October 2021, the Fiscal Monitor Database of Country Fiscal Measures in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic (published by the International Monetary Fund) shows the following additional government expenditure occurred in response to Covid-19: (these figures are in US dollars)
The top 11 economies (in terms of Covid-19 expenditure) spent $8,954 billion in “Additional expenditure” and $5,826 billion in “Liquidity support” (i.e., equity injections, loans, asset purchases or debt assumptions). Those economies are made up of Australia, Canada, European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States). That’s a total of $14.78 trillion.
Globally $10,793 billion was spent on “Additional expenditure”, and $6,117 billion was spent on “Liquidity support”, which combined is a total of $16,910 billion ($16.91 trillion). That amounts to4% of global GDP.
From this data alone we can’t draw any concise conclusions in terms of the wealth transfer that has taken place—such as who were the primary benefactors. I’ve not found data showing what proportions this Covid-19 government expenditure went directly into benefitting the public commons, and what proportion went to corporations and their primary owners and shareholders. I suspect it is safe to say a significant proportion made it into the hands of corporations and therefore increased the wealth of their shareholders. It should also be safe to say a significant proportion of this money was drawn from tax dollars (which is effectively common public wealth).
By looking at which companies had the largest wealth increase during the pandemic, and what the impact on wealth inequality has been, we can get at least some insight into who the benefactors of this massive wealth transfer have been. According to Insider Monkey, as of March 8th 2021, the top 15 companies to benefit the most from the pandemic were all tech companies37. The top five (from 1st to 5th) reported by Insider Monkey38 were Apple Inc. (gained ~$1 trillion in market cap); Amazon Inc. (gained $718 billion in market cap); Tesla (gained ~$601 billion, although Tesla stock value seems to jump up and down for a wide range of reasons, which may have nothing to do with Covid-19); Alphabet Inc. [Google] (gained $262 billion in market cap); Tencent Holdings Ltd [China’s largest Internet company] (gained ~$230 billion).
Total billionaire wealth reached USD 10.2 trillion at the end of July 2020, touching a new high after the year’s V-shaped rebound in asset prices. This level surpasses the previous peak of USD 8.9 trillion, reached at the end of 2017. There are now 2,189 billionaires, up from 2,158 in 201739.
The world’s 10 richest billionaires have doubled their wealth since the COVID-19 pandemic started in early 2020, with inequality now reaching “outrageous” levels, according to anti-poverty charity Oxfam40.[/ref]
As of October 2021, US billionaire wealth jumped up by 70% since the start of the pandemic, which amounts to a $2.1 trillion increase. “Not only did the wealth of US billionaires grow, but so did their numbers: in March of last year, there were 614 Americans with 10-figure bank accounts. Today there are 745.”41.
“While the pandemic ravages American workers, the federal government has orchestrated a monumental transfer of wealth from the bottom of the economic ladder to the top.”42
Wealth transfer to ‘Big Pharma’
Obviously, just as the industrial military complex gains huge profits from traditional wars, the vaccine producers have made large profits in their sales of Covid-19 vaccines. This is a transfer of wealth from the taxpayers to these companies and their shareholders.
Thanks to their patent monopolies for successful vaccines against the coronavirus, development of which was supported by $100 billion in public funding from taxpayers in the US, Germany, and other countries, the three corporations (Moderna, BioNTech, and Pfizer) earned more than $26 billion in revenue in the first half of the year, at least two-thirds of it as pure profit in the case of Moderna and BioNTech. The People’s Vaccine Alliance also estimates that the three corporations are over-charging, pricing vaccines by as much as $41 billion above the estimated cost of production.
“Big Pharma’s business model—receive billions in public investments, charge exorbitant prices for life-saving medicines, pay little tax—is gold dust for wealthy investors and corporate executives but devastating for global public health,” said Robbie Silverman, Oxfam America’s private sector engagement manager. “Instead of partnering with governments and other qualified manufacturers to make sure that we have enough vaccine doses for everyone, these pharmaceutical companies prioritize their own profits by enforcing their monopolies and selling to the highest bidder. Enough is enough—we must start putting people before profits.”43
I’m only scratching the surface when it comes to highlighting the ways in which World War III has, thus far, resulted in a massive transfer of wealth, and significant increases in wealth inequality. But hopefully this information gives at least some indication of what’s taking place.
Who’s Paying The Bill (or ‘Check’, in the US)?
We have to ask, where has all this transfer wealth come from? From who’s pockets was it taken? Simply put, it’s humanity (minus the ultra-wealthy) that will cover the brunt of this wealth transfer. We will be paying it through taxes, and through inflation. Major wars result in inflation. Which is like saying, they result in devaluation of affected currencies. Affected currencies in the case of a “World War” (especially in a the post WWII globalisation era of today) pretty much means every currency on Earth.
It’s worth noting, the inflation which I propose is guaranteed to occur during the tail end of the “pandemic” and for at least a few years after it, in at least one way works to the advantage of the ultra-wealthy and the Governments who have borrowed heavily during the pandemic. Inflation can indirectly benefit the ultra-wealthy by reducing the real value of their pre-inflation debts, making it easier for them to pay off those debts with less wealth. When inflation occurs, the general price level of goods and services increases, but the nominal value of debts remains the same. This means that borrowers can repay their debts with dollars that have less purchasing power than when they originally borrowed the money. In effect, the real value of their debts has decreased. Also, the ultra-wealthy may have access to various financial instruments, such as inflation-indexed bonds, that can protect them from the negative effects of inflation. These instruments are designed to adjust their returns to keep pace with inflation, ensuring that the real value of their investments remains the same. Regular people don’t get to play in such financial environments.
If I have US$1 billion in debt today, and tomorrow inflation causes the US Dollar to lose 20% of its value, that means tomorrow I can, in effect, repay that debt with the equivalent of 80% what it would have cost me today. Also, for the ultra-wealthy, when the general public spend money whilst the dollar is weak (meaning they pay more for things than they would have done in the absence of rapid inflation) more money is transferring into the hands of our Oligarchical overlords (who directly and indirectly own the companies people are buying goods and services from). It’s another win for the billionaires and Oligarchs, at the expense of the general public.
The same can occur for Governments. The inflation that will occur during and after “The War on Covid” will increase their tax revenue, and also decrease the relative value of Government debt. That increased tax revenue is the money of the masses being transfer into the hands of those billionaires and Oligarchs who made the above-mentioned large profits from this “war”.
It’s all nature
I want to put my position on this matter into perspective.
First of all, I am neither for nor against any of the measures that have been taken in the “war against Covid-19”. I am not for or against vaccines, lockdowns, face masks, or social distancing. The purpose of this article is not to dissuade people from implementing any of these measures. My intention is to ignite our collective capacity to ask meaningful questions. There’s no freedom without discernment. Discernment is impossible if we’re not willing to ask questions, however hard and uncomfortable they may become. My intention is to invoke the return of our common sense.
I’m sure people who are staunchly against vaccines and restrictive mandates might now be wishing they didn’t waste their time reading this far. It’s been a long journey, only to discover I’m seemingly not taking the right side in this war! Yet from where I stand, there are no sides. There is no war. There’s no “them” or “they” out there doing dastardly things to the remaining “us”. From my perspective, that’s all part of the deceptive narrative that’s causing us harm, and causing us to harm each other, and harm the Earth.
In reality, beyond our erroneously conditioned perception, there is only nature. One natural, emergent intelligence, taking shape as the Earth, the solar system, and the cosmos at large; and, that One intelligence is taking shape as human beings. As much as modern humans like to think we are separate and apart from nature (as opposed to “a part of nature”), it’s mistaken. It’s nothing more than a dangerous schizophrenic delusion.
So I am not against the circus-like drama we, humanity, have played out among ourselves in our carefully orchestrated reaction to Covid-19. I am not against all the many “conspiracies” and technocratically driven collusions that may or may not have played a part in this drama. I am not for or against the censorship, the character assassinations, the lies, the distortions of reality, and the overt and subtle propaganda.
Rather, I stand for greater awareness, awakening, and consciousness.
For roughly 30 years, I’ve been innately aware of the manipulation playing out through our media, politics, and economic systems. So none of that surprises me now that it’s becoming as overt as it is during this “pandemic”. Humanity’s attempt at establishing so-called democracy was hijacked long ago. It’s a farce now, and it has been a farce long before I was born. Modernity’s attempt to convince us we are separate from nature and from each other is also utterly false. These concepts need to evolve or be updated. They need to be corrected from the errors in consciousness that have used the pretense of “democracy” and separation as yet another way to continue a multi-millennial game of social manipulation for the material benefit of a power-hungry few.
Of course, so-called “democracy” and modernity as they stand today have provided a lot to be liked. We are undoubtably benefitting from a big improvement over some of the horrific regimes that have played out in the past (and still do in some parts of the world). Yet the current forms of democracy and modernity have some serious flaws. We only need to look as far as the living Earth around us, which we are living “cells” within, to recognise this fact.
Whatever it is modern human beings are up to, we have somehow managed to wipe out much of the biodiversity of the Earth44, the very planet and life support system we depend on for our own existence. We have also eliminated, and continue to destroy, most of the cultural diversity of humanity itself.45
What’s more, most of that destruction has occurred in just the past few hundred years, and most people have little, if any, idea that it’s even happening and that they are complicit.
The call for a change of heart
From my perspective, the gift and deeper purpose of the Covid-19 “situation” (irrespective of which narrative, mainstream or otherwise, about it you believe is true or false) is that it’s a call for a profound shift in consciousness. What we (humanity) are sub-consciously demanding from ourselves is a collective metanoia, meaning a transformative change of heart.
This is the case with most, if not all, wars. War arises from a collective state of dysfunction and dis-ease. The circumstances in which a nation, or even the whole world, engages in war is (in simple terms) a collective state of internal imbalance, out of which emerges the imbalance and violence that leads to war. In the case of World War III, the imbalance is globalised and pathological, and it has had serious and violent consequences for the Life and well-being of the Earth.
What’s been obvious to me since around 2015 is that if humanity remains on its current developmental trajectory (based on its current state of consciousness), somewhere between 2030 and 2040 we’ll see a significant shift in which artificial intelligence and AI-driven “robots” will change (for better or worse) almost every aspect of modern society; and in which many human beings will choose to physically merge and enhance themselves with cybernetic technology4647.
I have no doubt this is the current trajectory the modernised portion of humanity is racing toward. Elaborating on the consequences of this topic is beyond the scope of this article. So I will simply say that the Earth, which includes the deeper inner psyche of Man (male/female), will do all that it can to prevent such an aberration from taking place. Disruption events such as the “Covid-19 pandemic” are key junctures in which we, individually and collectively, are jolted into reassessing core aspects of our way of being and living.
... To be continued, in Part II
I’ve since looked up a dictionary definition of “world war” and it’s defined as “a war engaged in by all or most of the principal nations of the world”. Right now every nation on earth is at war with a common “enemy”; the vast majority of human beings are directly engaged in fighting this “enemy” and or dealing with the “assault” of the “enemy” upon them, upon people close to them, and upon their neighbourhood and their nation. Humanity is quite literally engaged in a non-militarised war of global proportions—World War III.
It’s also worth noting the word “war” is derived from Old Saxon (Germany) “werran” meaning “bring into confusion”. Keep that in mind.
I disagree with the phrase “War on Terror”. To me it stinks of Orwellian doublespeak.
Years ago I shared with friends, family, and people attending some of my workshops, that the “War on Terror(ism)” was verging on being a “world war”, yet for me it didn’t fulfil the criteria of having a direct impact on the majority of humanity, either in their fight against “terrorism” or the direct impact of “terrorism” upon them. What’s more, the actual prevalence of “terrorism” during the time the “War on Terror” was most overtly declared (11/Sep/2001 onwards) was relatively low compared to earlier periods of heightened “terrorism” in the century prior. Added to this, the relatively minimal threat of terrorism was hyped up in such a way that many people in many nations believed it might potentially impact them, yet very few were ever actually impacted by it. The perceived “enemy” was too distant—it’s happening somewhere else—and too intangible—who are these anonymous enemies?—for most of humanity to actually be impacted by “the enemy”. It was, for most people, a war happening only in the news, as opposed to in my backyard, in my neighbourhood, or in a city or country nearby.
